Clever Little Lies
Clever Little Lies is playing at The Westside Theatre Upstairs located at 407 West 43rd Street. It runs one hour thirty five minutes with no intermission. The play closes on January 3, 2016,
The play premiere at the George Street Playhouse in 2013, it is located in Brunswick, New Jersey.
Joe D. Pietro is the playwright. He won two Tony Awards for Memphis for Best Original score (with David Byre and Best Book of a Musical. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Nice Work If You Can Get it (2012). Joe was nominated for three Drama Desk Awards for Nice Work If You Can Get It (20120, Memphis 92010) and The toxic avenger (2009).
Marlo Thomas is known for her role Ann Marie in That Girl (1966-1971). She was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards.
Greg Mullavey is known for his role as Tom Hartman in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman in the 1970’s.
Bill Sr. (Greg Mullavey) is in a locker room with his son Billy (George Merrick). Bill Sr. has just beaten him at a game of tennis. He senses something is wrong with Billy. Billy finally tells his father he is having an affair with one of the employees at the gym they are at. He said he loves her. His wife June (Kate Wetherhead) does no fulfill him like his mistress. They have a three month old baby. Bill Sr. tells his son he won’t tell Billy’s mother.
When he gets home his wife Alice (Marlo Thomas) is going to an exercise class. She senses something is wrong. Alice tricks Bill into telling her what is disturbing him.
Alice invites her son and daughter in law over to their house that evening.
If you want to know what happens, you will have to see this delightful play.
Yoshi Tanokura did an outstanding job with the set.
